Fun (and safe) Labor Day ideas

Updated: Oct 2, 2020

With Labor Day just around the corner, everyone is looking for ways to get out of the house and have some [safe] fun with their family.

So grab your mask and check out some of our most smile-inducing Labor Day activities right here in Seguin:

1. ZDT Amusement Park Grab your swimsuits, sunscreen, and a change of clothes and head over to ZDT Amusement Park. Enjoy a thrilling day racing gocarts and splashing down water slides. Home to the world's first and only modern wooden shuttle rollercoaster, the Switchback, ZDTs is a great place to take the family for some fun in the sun.

2. Son's Island Rent your own lakeside cabana for the day, or even for the weekend out at Son's Island. With tent camping available on-site, you could easily spend the entire weekend on Island Time. Pack the fixins to grill out and have your own little piece of paradise on the lake. Floats and kayaks are available for rent. But be sure to make a reservation soon!

3. Max Starcke Park Take the family out to Max Starcke Park and enjoy the peaceful waters of the Guadalupe River. Complete with a golf course, disc golf, playground, and more, it's the perfect spot to spend an afternoon. Picnic under the pecan trees or bring your kayak or paddleboard to get out on the water. Whatever mood you're in, the park will certainly chill you out!

4. Downtown Seguin

If you prefer to stay indoors over the holiday weekend, head to Historic Downtown Seguin to shop some of our unique local boutiques. Grab an iced coffee and shop all the Labor Day deals downtown. Or if you're feeling creative, stop into You're So Crafty and get your DIY on. You can craft in-store or take home a kit to do at home!

Whatever your plans are this holiday weekend, stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe! Be sure to pack your masks for indoor settings and when social distancing is not feasible. For more information on current travel FAQs for Seguin, check out this blog.
